Update on the AMED
Regional Training Centres
As
part of intersessional activities in the lead up
to AMED II to be held in Egypt in 2007, Saudi Arabia and
Malaysia are co-chairing a Working Group on Political
and Security Issues; Egypt and Thailand are co-chairing
a Working Group on Economic Issues; and Jordan and
Singapore are co-chairing a Working Group on Social,
Educational, Scientific, Cultural, Environmental and
Media (SESCEM) Issues.
Jordan
and Singapore convened the inaugural meeting of the
SESCEM Working Group from 27 to 29 November 2005 in Singapore.
In
line with the format at AMED I, the SESCEM Working Group
was structured into three sub-groups:
i)
Human Resource Development and Media:
ii)
Promoting Co-operation in Science, Technology, and
Research; and
iii)
Tradition and Modernity
The
SESCEM WG co-chairs had reported to the AMED Steering
Committee on the outcomes and follow-ups of the
inaugural SESCEM WG meeting. |
