Update on the AMED
Regional Training Centres
AMED Training
Centres
Singapore is contributing to human
resource development through two regional training centres
established under the Asia-Middle East Dialogue or AMED. The AMED
Regional Training Centre for Public Administration (RTCPA), located
in Qatar focuses on the training of civil servants and developing
skills and strategies for excellence in public service, while the
AMED Regional Vocational Training Centre (RVTC) in Jordan will focus
on developing skills in air-conditioning and heating systems
maintenance and diagnostics for the construction industry.
AMED RTCPA in Qatar
The Institute of Administrative
Development of Qatar (IAD) in Doha hosts the AMED Regional Training
Centre for Public Administration (RTCPA). To date, Singapore and
Qatar have conducted three courses at the RTCPA, namely “Balanced
Scorecard for the Public Sector” from 14-18 May 2006; “Capacity
Building for Negotiating FTAs” from 21-24 May 2007; and “Learning
Organisations” from 11-14 June 2007. Singapore and Qatar will be
running another course in 2007, namely
“Land Use Planning: The Singapore Experience” from 19-22 November 2007.
